Charles B - Lack Of Love (LW Acid Soul Edit)
If ever there was a record that showed that Acid House oozed soul as well as off kilter funk 'Lack Of Love' is it. I've featured this personal edit in my sets for the last few years and it always goes down a storm. Download WAV/320K via www.facebook.com/acid.soul

Leftside Classics
With my new Acid Soul night starting on April 11th in London at Trapeze (the old East Village) I thought the time was right to put together a retrospective featuring some of the tracks that have meant the most to me over the last five years or so.
These are the tracks that somehow always find a way back into my sets, tracks that rise above the transient and tracks that defy limiting genre pigeonholes. My sets have always been about joining dots, celebrating the eclectic and supporting those tracks that exist in the rich hinterland between dub, funk, disco and house. Hopefully this retrospective captures that overriding ethos.
I've included a small selection of unreleased LW bits and a few exclusive versions of well known staples to keep things pushing forward too.
As ever hope you enjoy. x
p.s. Be sure to check out some of the other mixes on the Clandestino podcast page. The Andrew Weatherall/Sean Johnston one is particularly tasty.

Groovement Soul
Really fantastic mix from Keith Dalton of Dublin's Groovement Soul collective. A deep, funk fueled, soulful selection to get you ready for the weekends escapades.
And talking of Groovement Soul here's a rare live mix of me recorded at their ace loft party back in Sept 2012.

A Guy Called Gerald - Specific Hate
And talking of Manchester. I noticed that you can grab hold of this A Guy Called Gerald gem from 1989 for peanuts via Discogs second hand sellers http://tinyurl.com/owjvbx3. This was on the flip side of Gerald's first major label release and is a reworking of 808 States 'Pacific State', a track Gerald co-wrote (without credit) so he made this version to let the world know exactly what he thought of his former bandmates!
Played by a diverse set of DJ's at the time including Weatherall, Sasha, Grooverider & Laurent Garnier it still sounds great today.

Mr Fingers - Can You Feel It (Jakobin & Domino Rework)
Not only a wonderful rework but a lovely humble touch in their write up for why they did it "The original is sublime and cannot be improved, this rework is only a tribute to one of our heroes." Their love for the music shows in the results.

AFX - Analogue Bubblebath (Leftside Wobble Edit)
Whilst many of my friends are off cavorting in the paradise that is Tisno for this years Garden Festival I'm left here in London to DJ at the Queen of Hoxton this Friday. The good news however is that it's going to be a full LW takeover of the basement Funktion One for a five hour set!
And here's an extended version of an Aphex Twin favourite from 1991 I've put together for the occasion.
Enjoy...

SummerTearz - Leftside Wobble Mix
A teaser of a forthcoming Little Dragon remix. It may get tweaked slightly but I've been road testing this stripped back Chicago influenced version and it always gets a huge response so thought I'd preview it here.
And a little reminder of those forthcoming parties. If you're in London on December 10th I'm hosting another party with the legendary Sancho Panza crew at The Regent in West London, further info at http://tinyurl.com/cqyvesg
And a little closer to home I'm playing alongside the kings of Balearic, the Project Club's Steve Lee & Graham Fisher at Big In Japan tonight (Friday 25th November) @ The Book Club in Shoreditch. Always a complete roadblock, this should also be a rather special evening - further details @ http://www.residentadvisor.net/event.aspx?310227

Odyssey - Lonely Star
My contribution to the Odyssey remix project takes it's influences from early house music and in particular a track called The Morning After by Fallout (Tommy Musto & Frankie Bones). I always loved the way that track mixed organic sounds with electronic timbres to devastating effect and it seemed to perfect approach for Lonely Star (with it's lush string arrangements). It mightn't be for the disco traditionalists but for those who like some disco elements mixed into their deep house it'll be forthcoming as both a single and on the 'Return Flight' remix album (the launch party for which happens at the Queen of Hoxton in London on September 3rd).
I'll be playing at the launch party alongside the likes of Ashley Beedle, Ray Mang, Yam Who! & PBR Streetgang (all of whom have contributed to the remix project) - http://tinyurl.com/3gglypj - so looking like a damn fine evening.
Quick thanks out to those that came to Vintage Festival on Friday, what an epic day/night - and boy did that disco terrace rock! If you're around this weekend I'm playing at The Big Chill (in an authentic Juke Joint!) on Saturday with Ashley Beedle (the same venue features sets from Steve Kotey & Toby Tobias on the Friday and the Unabombers & The Cosmic Truth on the Sunday!).

Yothu Yindi - Treaty (Leftside Wobble Edit)
I'm making a selection of personal edits available for download over the next few months to say thank you for the massive support I've seen here and on SoundCloud over the last year or so. They're simple edits on classic tracks that I sometimes include in my sets. The first of which is a classic from the early 90's. Aboriginal chants meets disco samples for a tribal house shake down of epic proportions.
A tad cheesy in places maybe but all the better for it!

Master C & J - Face it (Leftside Wobble Edit)
Second edit for DJ History's 'Trax Records' compilation that's coming out this Autumn. This one originally came out on State Street Records in 1987 before being licensed to Trax and to my mind was one of the pivotal Chicago tracks that explored a deeper minimal production style that's been a major influence on 'Deep House' productions ever since.
If your around this Friday I'll be playing a bit of a Chicago selection alongside the modern disco bits @ Big In Japan in Shoreditch: http://www.flyerbug.co.uk/flyers/4031

Leftside Wobble - On & On
Leftside Wobble meets Mach for a re-spin of what is supposedly the first ever house record! Jessie Saunders got the credit but the original came out on a limited white label pressing in 1980 (only 500 copies) and is apparently by a Cuban DJ from Miami... Whatever the true story, the key samples come from Playback - Space Invaders (Bassline) & Donna Summer - Bad Girls (Acapella).

Delirious Influences part 1
In mid eighties London there were a group of clubs that held sway for the musically adventurous; The Mud Club, Raw and City of Angels to name a few, but one club in particular had a lasting impact on me and that was Noel and Maurice Watson's Delirium. It had that essential mix of cool kids and fashion but with a raw street edge. Musically the club originally played a mix of Hip Hop and Electro but they always had a sense of musical innovation and so Delirium was one of the first places I heard House music in both its New York and Chicago guises (much to the disapproval of much of the 2,500 regular crowd, who would bottle the DJ booth whenever the groove moved into House territory!). So in honour of Noel and Maurice's influence on my future musical tastes I've put together a series of mixes charting my early pilgrimages in search of the repetitive beat.
Many thanks to Louis of the consistently top-notch Dublin Bus Disco for inspiring me to put this series of mixes together.
Tracklisting:
Fingers Inc - Mystery Of Love
Harlequin Fours - Set It Off
Nitro Deluxe - Let's Get Brutal
T-Coy - Carino
The It - Donnie
