Kinky Girl (forthcoming mid July on the Sound & Vision EP)
An ode to those classic Italo tracks of the mid eighties that were a precursor to the early Detroit/Chicago sound. This will finally get a release in mid July as part of the Sound & Vision EP (including my recent Bowie rework).
The sample spotters amongst you will recognise elements from Charlie's 'Spacer Woman' and a couple from Klien & MBO as well as the rather twisted Rick James vocal.

Justin Velor - Flameout (Psychemagik Mix)
One of our guests at tonights nights Big in Japan released a wonderfully eclectic album this week (produced by 808 States Graham Massey and Dove frontman Jez Williams no less). On this outing friends of the family Psychemagik take one of the albums lead tracks into outer space. Truly beautiful - in an Adriatic k-hole kind of way... :) You can grab a free download of this from - http://www.xlr8r.com/mp3/2012/12/flameout-psychemagik-remix

DD Sound - Burning Love
Day two and edit two of the '12 edits of Xmas' series and this ones a pure guilty pleasure perfect for the festive season.
A lot of people are familiar with the Glossy edit from a few years back but for me the 1977 original is a far funkier affair and just needed a little trim here and there to tame some of it's cheesier elements.
Enjoy. x
Plus the usual gig spam for the Xmas and NY period. :)

It's been a while since I last uploaded a DJ mix so here goes with just over 2hrs of genre hopping grooves to get you in the mood for Saturdays party with the Sancho Panza crew. Brilliant line-up including Geddes of Mulletover fame, Sophie LLoyd who's a regular feature at Jade Jagger's Jezebel parties, Matt Brown & Jimmy K-Tel from Sancho Panza and myself.
Four stacks of Funktion One, old school projections and the same fine venue we used at Carnival. It's basically a warehouse party in a pub! Further info and tickets at http://tinyurl.com/cg4btog

Electric Influences part 1
A selection of Electro/Italo tracks that got me into DJing in the first place. I remember at the time funding my record buying habit by making tapes for school mates and charging them 50p for each import single and 25p for each British one. How else was teenage schoolboy going to afford all those exotic records he was falling in love with listening to pirate radio!
I've also stuck a couple of contemporary tracks in the mix that wear their electro influences firmly on their sleeves for comparison. Really enjoyed putting this one together. J x
n.b. One of the tracks included is The Beat Club's Security, the first single signed to Rob Gretton's (former New Order manager) Rob's Records, the label one half of the Disco Outcasts (Sefano) was signed to for many years. Reason I mention it, I'm guesting at the Disco Outcasts Halloween special on October 31st. If you fancy a trip to Manchester that weekend it's sure to be stormer.
