Twiggy Disco

For the last 16 years or so I've been a resident DJ at the Trees for Cities parties. Not only a lovely cause to be involved with but over the years their parties have been some of the most spectacular (and for that matter messy) I've had the pleasure to attend.

At the moment we're plotting the next event, but as a taster to the kind of music on offer, this weeks mix is a 4 hour set I put together a couple of years ago for their Xmas shindig.

Also, if your around over the next few weeks, I'm starting a Sunday evening wind down session that rotates around a selection of London's finest boozers.

Leftside DiscoTech part 2

First mix of the New Year is another visit to the Leftside DiscoTech.

Including the original Afro Acid mix of Yeke Yeke (a far superior drop to the Hardfloor effort) which is currently changing hands for £25 at Hard To Find Records, some rump shaking Inland Knights action and a future tech classic from D'Julz. Guaranteed to loosen those lethargic January limbs.

Swag Bag

Back on the party tip this week. A mix that celebrates the production genius that is Chris Duckenfield. Over the last 13 year's Chris has produced some of the best British house music under many guises, the most famous of which is probably Swag.

As a bit of a bonus I've chucked in a couple of tracks that I first heard him play out during his many funk fueled DJ sessions including a latin acid workout from Su Paka Pooh and a fine Tech Jazz remix of Inner Cities Good Life by Thomas Schumacher.

Dirty Soul - Sweet Tech

A whole heap of Quentin Harris, some classic Strictly Rhythm, the fella from Kings of Convenience; ending up with beautifully twisted re-edits of Hot Chip and Dolly Parton.

This mix started out whilst going through some recent NRK faves; but via some old school disco/rap magic, ends up with Dolly pleading some auburn haired beauty not to take her man.
