Public Service Broadcasting - Everest (Leftside Wobble Remix)
Something a little different from me this week. Whilst it's not aimed at the dancefloor I'm really proud of this mix. Lemon Jelly meets New Order is probably the best description I've heard. It's strictly promo only for the moment but will see a proper release at some point next year. You can buy the original version via the iTunes link and make sure to check out the video link too - which links to their previous single, Spitfire (another track that is due for an official Leftside Wobble remix at some point next year).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_u4Md_aXVJE
Public Service Broadcasting are a London-based duo whose main ingredients are: 1) J. Willgoose, Esq. on guitars, banjos, other stringed instruments, samplings, electronic things; 2) Wrigglesworth on drums, pianos and other electronic things.
Taking samples from old public information films, archive footage and propaganda material, and mould them into 21st century songs.
Everest is based on the 1953 film 'The Conquest of Everest', which told the story of Hillary & Tensing successful ascent of the tallest mountain in the world, and which was directed by expedition member George Lowe.
The band have been getting major props from both 6 Music and XFM (amongst many others) and are preparing a major label album release for next year.

A personal edit that I'm releasing to celebrate the 6th Birthday of Big In Japan this month: http://tinyurl.com/bnsnc93 (with a party featuring the legendary Daniel Wang and disco don Ray Mang).
This ones all about the rhythm track overdubs and subtle filtering. Sometimes an edit needs a very light touch and with a track so perfect this is certainly the case here.

Tom Petty - Learning To Fly (Flash Atkins Rework)
Free download No.2 of the day. Paper Recordings Flash Atkins reworks Tom Petty's 'Learning To Fly' into one those old school balearic/AOR guilty pleasures that make so much sense at the end of an evenings heavier dance floor tackle. Ace!

Late Night Tuff Guy has picked a winner to rework here, picking Rufus & Chaka Khan's 1974 hit 'You Got The Love' - he's picked out the Zeppelin like guitar parts to riff on and by the time Chaka's vocals hit your hooked.

A little taster from my forthcoming album which I hope to get out after the summer. This ones very much taking it's cues from early nineties breakbeat driven house, the sort of stuff being released by the the likes of William Orbit's Guerilla Records in their early days.

Atlantic Conveyor - Nasty Things
It's been a while since I've posted any of my edits here so make sure to check out my SoundCloud page for any you might have missed - http://soundcloud.com/leftside-wobble - there's a whole bunch of bits I've posted since Xmas.
This new edit's a jack'd up version of the Atlantic Conveyor classic 'Nasty Things'. Originally released back in 2004, hunt down the vinyl for the original mix, plus three other killer tracks - http://www.discogs.com/Atlantic-Conveyor-Fantastic-Incidents-EP/master/137036
